The Big Island Music Awards, founded by Dennis and Christy Soares, will host the third annual Hospice of Hilo Benefit Concert from 6-8 p.m. Oct. 18 at the hospice’s Community Building, 1011 Waianuenue Ave.
The Big Island Music Awards, founded by Dennis and Christy Soares, will host the third annual Hospice of Hilo Benefit Concert from 6-8 p.m. Oct. 18 at the hospice’s Community Building, 1011 Waianuenue Ave.
The concert will showcase some of the island’s most talented musicians.
Musical performances will include ukulele master Rick Jitchaku, soulful guitarist Ronnie Harris, the melodies of Dennis and Christy Soares, “Lightning” Larry Dupio and Bruddah Waltah.
All artists are donating their time and talent to ensure every dollar raised will support quality and compassionate end-of-life care for patients and their loved ones in East Hawaii.
To the Soareses, the Hilo Benefit Concert is a labor of love.
“We have performed for Hospice of Hilo’s memorial service many times, and the stories from families touched by hospice care are amazing,” Dennis Soares said. “All of us will meet a point in our life when hospice is appropriate. Christy and I can’t think of a better cause to support.”
“We are so grateful to these talented artists for sharing their incredible gifts to benefit Hospice of Hilo,” said An Umamoto, Hospice of Hilo development coordinator. “Every year this event is so wonderful and we look forward to another amazing experience.”
